    5:00 on the calculator I pressed 7 then prb button, selected 1:nPr, then pressed 3, to see 7 nPr 3, enter to get 210. I saw that in another of your videos.

    Why can't we do 7ncr 3 for the movie one sir ?

    • @GetSumMath
      @GetSumMath  11 месяцев назад +4

      Since that one is "orders" or permutations, there will be a LOT of different ways to do it. Since 7 nCr 3 = 35, that's too few because it didn't take the orders into account.
      But, 7•6•5 = 210, and when "order" matters, there will always be a lot more ways to do it.
      As a side note, 7 nPr 3 is another way to get 210, because "P" stands for permutations (or orders).
      Hope that helps a little bit!

    For combinations and permutations, are calculators always allowed?

    • @GetSumMath
      @GetSumMath  4 месяца назад

      Yup! If not, it would be a more simple one like the first problem

  • @ethan-py9he
    @ethan-py9he Год назад

    on the last one couldn’t you just do 5 times 2 to get 10? or does it not always work like that? 5 for the toppings, 2 pizzas. i wish there was another practice problem on the last one to test my theory

    • @GetSumMath
      @GetSumMath  Год назад

      Hey there, 4) here is another problem like that if you want to test your theory!

  • @laceymarie1274
    @laceymarie1274 Год назад

    i got all but the last one, why cant i just do 5x4 to get 20? can you only do it that way if the number you are picking is greater than 2?

    • @GetSumMath
      @GetSumMath  Год назад

      It's a great question! If we did 5•4 then there would be 20 ways to get 2 toppings, but that would take the order into account where PS and SP are both counted, when really they're the same thing.
      So to not to worry about order, but just making smaller groups, that's when we can use the nCr button. I have a few practice problems like these if a few more examples might help!

    How is 60 the correct answer for question number 3? I thought it was 5C3 = 10 in your combination practice test

    • @GetSumMath
      @GetSumMath  Год назад

      Hey there, since that one is how many "orders" it'll be similar to the example at 04:24 in the video.
      We'll have to multiply down to get the orders, starting with 5 • 4 • 3 • 2 • 1, but since we can only do 3 of them, we'll only do the first three:
      5 • 4 • 3 = 60, so that's where the 60 comes from for that one!

    GOD first! How do I solve this? "Assume you are at an ice cream shop and you order a bowl of ice cream with 3 scoops. There are 8 flavors to choose from. How many different bowls of ice cream can you have?

    • @GetSumMath
      @GetSumMath  2 года назад +2

      Hey there! This one could be quite tricky, unless we assume that they're stacking them on top of each other in a particular order. Then, there's:
      8 • 8 • 8
      8 options for 1st, 8 for 2nd, 8 for 3rd.
      And that'll give us 512
      If it's any more complicated than that, I doubt it would be on the GED Math test! 😅 Hope that helps! 🙏🏻
